I am a Single Mum, originally from Ireland. I have lived in several countries around the world both for the cultural experience and for work. I moved to Edmonton in 2005 to be in closer proximity to my sisters and Mother after my marriage ended. It has taken me quite some time to adjust to being single again and although I have joined singles sites before I have never had any success meeting someone compatible. I am an outgoing person and could possibly be described as vibrant, intelligent and amusing by my friends. At least I'd like to think that they find me remotely thus! I believe in nurturing close friendships so although I love parties I prefer to celebrate any occasion with those I am close to. It appears on the surface that I am very confident with Strangers but in actuality I am quite shy and will only get to know people slowly. I seem outgoing more for other's sake I strive to put people at their ease. I enjoy spontaneous entertaining, dinners with good wine, trips to the country, a good movie. Friends dropping by for afternoons sitting in the garden or afternoon tea. For me, anytime spent with family and friends is good time. I am fond of animals although not in a sappy way. I strive to learn new things as I go through life for no other reason than that I really enjoy learning strange and wonderful things.
I enjoy a wide range of people and I have found in the past that it is often those we least expect it from who end up being the best kind of friends.
I come from a large family I lie sixth in a family of seven children. That is not including another three half siblings as they had left home by the time any of us were born.
Generally happy, I really do not like to be unhappy and like to work things out pretty promptly if misunderstandings occur with friends.

After the complete and disastrous shock of my marriage failing and having to go through a really horrible legal system for the divorce I ended up gaining weight.

I think, to be honest it is just my accent, which lies somewhere between Ireland. England and Canada confusing many people who hear me.

It is hard to put a list of likes and dislikes together but if push came to shove, ideally I am looking for a tall handsome man who I have an instant attraction for. There has to be chemistry. I love people with a quirky yet kind sense of humour who has a self deprecating notion of themselves. I don't appreciate cynics and if you are someone who is slow to express them selves then I am probably not the person for you. A good intelligence but not someone who relies too much on that to prove themselves to others.
