I like to walk and love hiking and bicycling in the mountains and national parks but I am not going to say the la-de-dah cliché of wanting to go for long walks on the beach. I love to laugh but I have a serious side too. Music is part of my everyday life. From Opera to hard rock and roll. I play the guitar but don’t play or listen to rap / hip hop music---ever. I spent years sailing around the North Pacific, Pacific and Southern Pacific oceans and as much as I enjoyed going to some truly remote locations, sailing is the most expensive way to travel fourth class. I have lived overseas a lot but there is no place like home. My idea of a perfect holiday/vacation is eating exotic food and sipping drinks made out of coconuts or pineapples with little umbrellas in them.

I don’t think that effective communication is the only thing that makes a relationship work, it is everything: two monologues don’t make a dialogue. I am polite and few things turn me away faster than anyone that is not.

I enjoy everything that involves water; skiing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and simply sitting by the water’s edge and relaxing. I don’t mind a nice car or truck but I own neither; I live in North Dakota. I enjoy sports but don’t think that driving a fast car is a sport any more than I think that equestrian events are either. I like to go fishing but don’t do much of it. When I lived in Australia I always had a motorcycle but North Dakota….no.

My favorite movies make me laugh or think, I am not into horror films, zombie films or sad movies with unhappy endings. I don’t mind a day of bingeing on Netflix or YouTube but like to go out to the movies in the same way that I like to cook and eat a home cooked meal around the dinner table but I like to dine out as well.

I love famous sayings and I like to read but after a lifetime of management jobs I am finishing my working life with zero stress and no people to manage in the oilfields where the safest place to hide something would be inside of a book, no one would ever look there where I work.

Everyone says they are honest but talk is cheap, it is a bit like a work history resume; anyone can say anything. I am honest and loyal but you will have to see and judge for yourself. I am keen to meet someone around my age. I am happy to come to where you suggest and have a coffee or a meal. If we are honest we will both know if we should meet again. Certainly I will do my best to make a first meeting light hearted and comfortable. I can’t promise that I am your type. What I can promise is that if you think I am I will do my very best to reinforce that view. My pictures are current, I would like to think that yours are too, I am pretty sure I will pick it if they are not when we meet. What would be the point of that?

I like all sorts of food and there isn’t much I don’t like or won’t eat. I live by the adage that one should send people flowers when they are alive, not wait until they are dead to send them. I have only ever tried internet dating once before and got all manner of bizarre, crazy responses; most too crazy to do anything but block. If after writing and speaking we both agree, I would be willing to drive a fair way to meet the right person. I just drove my pick up to the west coast and back on a break to see family so an hour or two to meet someone that would like to meet me is nothing. My truck isn’t flash but it gets me there and has real personality. I like to think that it isn’t what you drive but rather what drives you.

So that’s me. I don’t have any preconceived ideas about ‘what I am looking for’ other than someone to go out with, have fun with, have a laugh with and spoil.
